I always look forward to Easter. It's the first chance we get every year to spend some time at the beach. This year, it was absolutely freezing and at times, stormier than Donald Trump's mistress. Here's how it looked, over the course of 5 days.
No doubt there are more beautiful places on earth, but on days like this, with company like this, I can't think of any.
Lately I've been stealing time before work to take the dogs up to the fields for a run around. Them, not me. It's about all I can manage, being awake and walking. Running would be asking too much. The grass is long enough to lose a dog and takes a bit of effort to lift … Continue reading Trespassing in twilight
Took the dogs up for a walk in Balrath Woods a week or so ago. It was about 5pm on a Sunday afternoon and normally there'd be a good few people wandering around there. Not this time. Just Mimi, Pippa and Rosa. And me. And the trees.
We get a lot of fog and heavy mist out in Meath. Sometimes you can't see 10 feet in front of you. And it can seem like the whole country is in the soup, but then you drive out of it on the approach to the M50 and it's all clear. Here's a few shots … Continue reading Autumn has landed
I love living in Meath, with the countryside all around me. Yes. There are considerable advantages to living close to work, but none that outweigh the opportunity to walk five minutes from home and be completely alone with miles of empty fields to wander. I think the dogs would agree. Here's a few shots from … Continue reading The white, white grass of home
We developed an ad campaign to promote UPC Ireland's 240mb broadband. Life flows better with Ireland's fastest broadband. The TV ad tells the story of a dog called Pixie who wanders out while his owner isn't paying attention, steps on a bus and disappears. A frantic search ensues and through the magic of superfast broadband, … Continue reading Pixie’s Adventure
Last weekend (August bank holiday) we managed to get down to Clogherhead for the first time in nearly two months. We gorged on lovely long beach walks. The weather was a mixed lot, but there were plenty of nice bits and the three woof'n'ears had a brilliant time.
It started out like any other Sunday. There was idle chat about getting a new puppy. We all agreed that a little pup would be very very very cute. I'm pretty sure we also agreed that two dogs were enough to have about the place. Somehow, we ended up taking a drive to 'look' at … Continue reading Cockapoo
Last Sunday's walk took us down the beach, past Termonfeckin to Baltray. We persevered against a strong headwind and the threat of rain and it all worked out fine. The ship is a great marker to encourage you down what would otherwise be a fairly featureless course. Not that that's a bad thing - the … Continue reading Checking in on an old friend
We've had a few lovely walks in Balrath Woods over the holidays. It's been chilly, but beautiful.
A couple of shots taken yesterday. A birthday walk in the winter woods with Mimi and Pippa.
Fresh air. Space, country smells, rough ground. That's all it takes to make the dogs happy, and it'll do nicely for me too. Luckily, this is just a few minutes walk from home and admission is free.
A few shots of Mimi and Pippa on the beach, saturday evening, September 27th 2014.
On the beach on saturday night (Sept 20th). The days are much shorter now - these shots were taken around 7.30pm. It was an amazing, indian summer weekend. Hopefully the good weather will stick around for a while longer, even if the light has faded.
